I Bought a Hi Point Carbine 9mm & Was Very Impressed

Read Time:2 Minute, 57 Second

I’m not loaded with money, but I have enough to buy the occasional treat for myself. So, when I was browsing on my phone, I saw a Hi Point Carbine 9mm for sale for what seemed like a price too good to be true…just under $300. I thought to myself, “I have to buy one and try it out!”.

At the time, I was feeling quite adventurous, so instead of listening to my inner caution, I decided to add one to my online shopping basket and get one shipped out. I live out in the sticks, so I was really looking forward to getting in some plinking with it when it arrived.

First Impressions of the Hi Point Carbine 9mm

So, it arrived, and I was keen to get it unboxed and firing. First impression…? Well, I had read a couple of bad reviews about its quality in hand but was pleasantly surprised about how good it felt. It was a bit rough and ready around the edges, sure, but everything looked nice when laid out on my bench.

The Hi Point Carbine 9mm isn’t the most aesthetically-pleasing gun you’ll ever see, but what do you expect for $299.99? I was more interested in the features.

An Incredible Number of Unexpected Features

After you’ve gotten used to how it looks, this carbine shows itself to be a weapon with an incredible number of features you just wouldn’t expect from such a low-priced product. Try this lot on for size….

  • 10+1 Round Magazine Capacity
  • Semi-Auto or Single-shot firing
  • Spring-loaded stock for low recoil
  • Upper & lower picatinny rails
  • Threaded barrel for a silencer
  • 6.25 lbs in weight
  • Adjustable sights
  • Polymer frame

The sheer number of features alone should make this carbine a more expensive weapon. The potential for upgrading with aftermarket add-ons like scopes, lasers, and slings is as wide as with a weapon that costs twice or three times the price of this one.

Reliable & Accurate Firing – Over 500 Rounds

After 2-3 days, I finally had a couple of hours to spare to take my new gun out and run it through its paces. Over around 50 yards, I fired around 500 rounds at various targets and got that telltale ‘ting!’ every time I hit a target flush in the middle. As such, I was very impressed with the accuracy of round after round as it struck home.

I had no issues with bullet feeding either, as I experienced not a single misfire or jam over 20 boxes of ammo. Even my normal carbine that cost three times as much couldn’t match up to that kind of performance.

I’d Recommend a Hi Point Carbine 9mm to Anyone

If you’re considering buying one of these bad boys, then I would heartily recommend you do. Don’t believe anyone who says that this is a garbage weapon, as it’s far from that.

It’s not exactly the best-finished carbine on the market, but I didn’t expect it to be. I knew that the important part was how it performed as a firearm, and it more than adequately – and over lots and lots of rounds. No matter how many rounds I ran through it, it delivered again and again.

Fully loaded is what this thing is, as it’s ready for all those great aftermarket add-ons you’ll find available – something I’m looking forward to getting into.
