What Parts Make Up an Air Conditioning System?

When people talk about air conditioning, they usually mean a system that is made up of several parts: an outdoor condenser, an indoor evaporator coil, and the compressor. If you’re new to this world, allow us to explain the major parts in more detail. When you’re ready to talk about your own home, contact an aircon company to get started.

Outdoor Condenser Unit – The outdoor condenser unit contains several main components, including the fan, condensing coils, and a compressor. The fan helps to circulate air over the hot refrigerant and then sends it outside. The compressor is responsible for pressurising the refrigerant when it comes into the condenser unit and then releasing it. The condensing coils cool down the hot, pressurised refrigerant that has been circulated through the system.

Indoor Evaporator Coil – To cool your home or business, an indoor evaporator coil is used. This part of the system is connected to a fan and helps to cool down the air inside your space. The evaporator coil works by passing air over its refrigerant-filled coils, which in turn absorb heat from the air, resulting in cooler temperatures.

Air HandlerThe air handler is responsible for circulating cool air throughout your space. It is usually located inside the house or building and consists of a blower, heating element, filter system, and air ducts. The air handler works by drawing in hot air from your space and passing it over the evaporator coil to cool it before sending the cooled air into your home or business through the air ducts.

CompressorNext, the compressor is the heart of an air conditioning system. It is typically located outside of your space, and it works by compressing refrigerant gas and sending it through the system’s coils to cool the air inside your home or business. The compressor also pumps cooled air back into your space.

Split System

With all these parts in mind, what is a split system? A split system is a type of air conditioning system that separates the compressor and the evaporator coil into two separate units: an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. The indoor unit contains the evaporator coil, while the outdoor unit houses the compressor. Cooled air is sent through ducts from the indoor to the outdoor unit, where it circulates throughout the space. The split system is more energy-efficient than other types of air conditioning systems and requires less maintenance.

What are the major differences between split systems and other types of air conditioning? The main difference between a split system and other types of air conditioning is how it cools. While traditional window units or wall-mounted cooling systems direct all their cooled air into one space, split systems can send cooled air through ducts throughout the entire house or building. This means that each room can be cooled uniformly and more energy-efficiently.

Split systems also offer a greater degree of control over the temperature in each space. With traditional window units or wall-mounted cooling systems, you are limited to adjusting the unit in one area. With split systems, however, you can adjust the temperature in each room; this allows you the flexibility to customize your cooling needs.

Split systems also provide a more efficient air exchange system, as well as better filtration of pollutants and allergens. They have an easier time removing moisture from the air, which can help reduce the presence of dust mites, mould spores, and other pollutants.

Split systems offer superior energy efficiency because they use two separate units for cooling and heating, instead of one combined unit used in traditional window or wall-mounted air conditioning systems. The two units work in tandem to boost the efficiency of the system, resulting in greater cost savings over time.
